Bridge and a railway

railway bridge

In the summer of 2007 the railway bridge at the top of Hillcrest marking the beginning of Dawdon proper was rebuilt. Road closures for several weeks caused remarkable havoc with the number 60 bus drivers’ local geography, whilst a series of different routes in and out of Parkside were explored. Not so much fun if you were trying to get home in a hurry.

So this means that the trains of the sparkling new Grand Central Railway can hurtle past our rooftops without danger of ploughing through the local allotments. But will we get our longed-for station back?

A fresh start

Welcome to the new page design and structure of the Dawdon Village website. The old pages are still very much alive here on the internet. If you’re looking for something in particular, please let us know, it’s probably in the archive somewhere.

Please bear with us for a week or so while we put up a few shelves and hang the curtains, and if anything looks broken to you, please do let us know.

Happy New Year!
